COLONization, 2014

Series of paintings
Acrylic on canvas

Festivity-Slaughter is a metaphor for ceremony as a social symbol and the allegorical forms of colonialism, which creates a new view on scenarios that show the fervor of festivity as a simulacrum of cultural slaughter. The project integrates painting and installation appropriating the bullfighting world to reflect on neocolonialism, cultural and social imposition and historical and current events from a simulated, iconic and political perspective.
