The Origin of the World Cries, 2013-16

The Origin of the World Cries creates a dialogue between two versions of Gustave Coubert’s painting. One of the versions reflects the aggression of genital mutilation generally practiced involuntarily to almost 3 million girls and women every year. This past inherited practice is nowadays considered to be a violation of the human rights, thus serves as a voice to question the almost 22 million girls and women that every year voluntarily undergo plastic surgery risking their lives in response to value of beauty.
