COLONization, 2014

Acrylic on canvas
[ Espai Angram, Barcelona 2018  /  Piramidón Centre d’Art Contemporani, Barcelona 2018  /  Festividad Masacre, Barcelona 2014]

Festivity-Slaughter is a metaphor for ceremony as a social symbol and the allegorical forms of colonialism, which create a new view on scenarios that show the fervor of festivity as a simulacrum of cultural slaughter. The project integrates painting and installation appropriating the bullfighting world to reflect on neocolonialism, cultural and social imposition and historical and current events from a simulated, iconic and political perspective.
